The 25th anniversary of January 13th, 1991, marked in Prague

Jan 13, Embassy of Lithuania in Prague, marked the 25th anniversary of the tragic events of January 13th, 1991, in an event featuring a screening of a chapter of Jonas Mekas’ film “Lithuania and the Collapse of the USSR” and a ceremony in the embassy courtyard where forget-me-nots and candles in the shape of the Column of Gediminas were placed.

Forget-me-not flowers were crafted out of paper by Debesynas’ Saturday school children, parents and teachers to symbolically join the commemoration of the anniversary throughout the world. Debesynas’ children also used the forget-me-nots carrying their thoughts to decorate a banner to the casualties of January 13th, 1991.
