President Dalia Grybauskaitė spoke at the 30th Forum 2000 Conference on National Security Issues

This week in Prague President of the Republic of Lithuania Dalia Grybauskaitė participated in the international “Forum 2000” conference. Grybauskaitė held the presidential office for two consecutive terms from 2009 to 2019.

The 30th Forum 2000 conference titled Reimagining the Power of the Powerless, held in Prague on October 11–13, brought together more than 800 champions of democracy from around the world — politicians, diplomats, activists, dissidents, experts, journalists, and representatives of civil society.

This year’s conference was particularly special — it marked the 30th anniversary of the Forum 2000 Foundation and the 90th anniversary of the birth of its founder, Czech President Václav Havel. The values he championed — freedom, democracy, human dignity, and civic responsibility — remain highly relevant today.

The President Grybauskaitė spoke at two panel discussions during the conference. One of them, The Unseen Frontline: Ukraine’s Integrated Approach to National Security, raised the question of what a comprehensive defense system is and how it ensures societal resilience in times of war.
