Nordic-Baltic countries mark their national days celebration
June 16, in Prague embassies of Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Denmark, Finland, Norway, Sweden and Iceland gathered in an annual joint celebration of the national days of the Nordic-Baltic countries. In the ninth celebration of the occasion the ambassadors together invited the heads of Czech institutions, members of the business, arts and media communities, as well as members of the diplomatic corps.
The event that took place at the New Town Hall in Prague gathered more than 450 guests who were greeted with the speeches from the ambassadors of Nordic and Baltic countries, the Czech Vice-minister Pavel Bělobrádek and the Czech Minister of Foreign Affairs Lubomír Zaorálek.
The occasion was marked by a potpourri of the national anthems performed by the locally beloved 25 year old Charles Bridge band.
The event also offered an opportunity to taste Nordic and Baltic beverages and foods. At the Lithuanian table guests were encouraged to try the "Džiugas" cheese and the well-received “Vilnius” beer.
