Lithuanians studying in Czech Republic met in an annual embassy event
October 27, Embassy of Lithuania in Prague held the sixth gathering of the Lithuanian students studying in Czech Republic and Czech students studying the Lithuanian language in Czech Republic. The annual event aims at establishing communication between the students themselves, and at introducing the Lithuanian study programs at the Prague Charles University and the Brno Masaryk University.
This year‘s event is the largest the embassy has organized and saw around 50 participants attending. Most of those who came travelled to study in the Czech Republic through the “Erasmus +” student exchange program. During the event the students had a chance to familiarize with the work of the Lithuanian Embassy, it’s staff and the “Global Lithuania” program.
The evening began with a lecture by a professor from the Prague Film School, Maša Hilcisin, who gave an introduction to the Czech film history; it was followed by a screening of a Czech classic „How to Drown Dr. Mraček, the Lawyer“ (1974). Later, a traditional Lithuanian potato Kugel was served to the guests.
The meeting of the Lithuanian students and the Czech students studying Lithuanian was organized in the framework of the “Global Lithuania” program that aims at strengthening the connection between expat Lithuanians and their homeland.
