Lithuanians in Prague Celebrated Restored Statehood with Brain Battle and Movie

On February 16th the Lithuanian Embassy in Prague organised a celebration of the 101. anniversary of the Restoration of Lithuanian Statehood.

As a tradition, the first part of the event honoured the occasion with the common singing of Lithuanian national anthem at the memorial board of Dr. Jonas Basanavičius, who has lived there in the years 1883-84 and wrote an important manifesto for the future restoration of the Lithuanian statehood.

Later the members of the community participated in a Brain Battle and watched the movie Owl Mountain (dir. Audrius Juzenas, Lithuania) in the Lucerna Cinema. During his introductory speech, ambassador Edvilas Raudonikis emphasized that the movie communicates an important message for everyone: we should believe in freedom and we should fight for it.
