LITHUANIAN PRESIDENCY OF THE COUNCIL OF THE EU PRESENTED TO STUDENTS IN PRAGUE

Today ambassador Aurimas Taurantas introduced priorities, progress and key events of Lithuanian Presidency of the European Council in 2013 to students of the Prague University of Economics (VSE). The lecture from the course " Development and Analysis of the Foreign Policy and Diplomacy”, which is traditionally visited by all the ambassadors of presidency countries and other diplomats, today was examining one of the most important topics of Lithuanian foreign policy this half year.

According to Taurantas, it is a useful opportunity to meet with students who are interested in foreign policy and the neighboring countries. "I appreciate the opportunity to provide fresh information, while at the same time to introduce more people, particularly the young and pursuing education, with Lithuania and its realities," - said the Ambassador. During the lecture, he has also discussed major problems of Lithuania's foreign policy and country’s relations with the Czech Republic, also the most important world events of the present time.

The course, read the English language, is frequented by about 50 students specializing in international relations and diplomacy. During the last semester it’s guests were ambassadors of Austria, China, India, Ireland, Israel, Mexico, Palestine, Pakistan, Serbia, Turkey.

Today the ambassador has also met with Dean of the Faculty of International Relations of VSE Stepan Mueller and Štěpánka Zemanova, Head of the International Studies of the Jan Masaryk Centre. During the meeting, prospects of cooperation between Lithuanian educational institutions, embassy in Prague and the university were discussed.
