Lithuanian Embassy in Prague Promotes Tourism: Enticing Czechs to Lithuania with Unique Experiences and Michelin-Starred Cuisine

Following the announcement by airBaltic about the start of direct Prague–Vilnius flights, the Lithuanian Embassy in the Czech Republic responded swiftly by organizing a tourism promotion event. Held on March 10 at the embassy, the presentation targeted Czech travel agencies and tour operators, offering them insights into Lithuania’s latest tourism developments and opportunities.

Taking place on the eve of Lithuania’s Restoration of Independence Day, the event was opened by Lithuania’s Ambassador to the Czech Republic, Rolandas Kačinskas. He emphasized that 35 years ago, Lithuania regained its place on the world’s political map. “Today, our goal is to establish Lithuania on another map – the one Czech tourists use when planning their trips. Lithuania is an authentic, culturally rich, and welcoming country, ready to host you! After all, every Czech traveler carries a bit of the spirit of the Good Soldier Švejk, who once said: ‘Being on the road is a wonderful thing. If a person sits at home all the time, they rust and learn nothing about the world.’ So, I invite you—travel and discover Lithuania!”

Representatives of Lithuania Travel highlighted the most popular tourism segments for Czech visitors, including historical and cultural heritage, Vilnius and other major cities, the seaside, Lithuania’s resorts, active recreation, and ecotourism. AirBaltic presented details about the Prague–Vilnius flight route, tourism business services, and its 2025 plans, which will place a special focus on the Baltic region. Lithuanian tourism company Terra Incognita introduced a wide range of travel services available in Lithuania.

The event also had a symbolic aspect—2025 has been declared the Year of the Lithuanian Aircraft ANBO and the Pioneers of Lithuanian Aviation. Participants recalled the remarkable tour of Europe undertaken by interwar Lithuanian pilots, including a landing in Prague. During a raffle, Czech tour operators had the chance to win prizes provided by event partners, including flight tickets to Vilnius and hotel stays.

Following the official part of the event, guests were treated to a unique culinary experience. Andrius Kubilius, head chef of Vilnius’ Michelin-starred restaurant Nineteen18, introduced the new Baltic cuisine. Authentic Lithuanian dishes and the chef’s stories about their journey to international recognition captivated attendees, who not only indulged in the tasting but also actively shared their impressions on social media.

The event attracted nearly 50 representatives of the Czech tourism industry, ranging from Prague Airport and airlines to tourism associations and travel agencies. Event partners included the Czech Association of Tour Operators and Travel Agencies (AČCKA), Lithuania Travel, GO Vilnius, Lithuanian Airports, AirBaltic, and the Lithuanian Resorts Association.
