Lithuanian defenders of freedom commemorated in Prague with floating lights

In the eve of the Day of Defenders of Freedom Lithuanian Embassy in Prague has invited members of the Lithuanian community in the Czech Republic, the students residing in the country and other friends of Lithuania to celebrate the occasion together.

of the Re-Establishment of the State of Lithuania. Because of Soviet military actions during the attacks of the buildings of Lithuanian TV and radio, 14 unarmed civilians were killed and 702 injured.

Ambassador Edvilas Raudonikis reminded the names of the January 13th’s dead heroes and asked to comprehend the meaning of their sacrifice and its weight in the times of today.

Each of the deceased was honored with a symbolic candle that all were floated in the river of Vltava.
