Lithuania in the works of the Czech artists

Aug. 3, at the New Town Hall in Brno, an exhibition “Lithuania in the Works of the Czech Artists” was opened. The exhibition was organized by Virginija Kočiarova, a member of the Board of the Lithuanian Community in the Czech Republic, in cooperation with the Mayor of the city of Brno Petr Vokřál, the Honorary Consul of the Republic of Lithuania Petr Sláčala, and the Embassy of Lithuania in the Czech Republic.

The exhibition showcases around 50 paintings, etchings, photographs and ethnical weaved works that show the Czech authors‘ experiences related to Lithuania. During the opening ceremony a folklore group called „Elnyaz“ was there to entertain the guests who were also introduced to the folklore musical traditions in Lithuania by Daša Vánova, the founding member of the band.

Before the opening of the exhibition the Ambassador of Lithuania met with the Deputy Mayor of the City of Brno Martin Ander. During the meeting the cooperation between the cities of Brno and Kaunas was discussed and also the Lithuanian community was invited to participate in the national minorities’ festival “Babylon.”

The exhibition will be open in the New Town Hall until the 30th of August. We invite everyone to use this opportunity to see the outstanding works of the Czech authors.
