Lithuania–Czech Business Forum in Prague Marks New Phase of Cooperation with Bilateral Memorandum
The Lithuania–Czech Business Forum, held on September 5 in Prague, saw the signing of a Memorandum of Cooperation between the Vilnius Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Crafts and the Czech Chamber of Commerce. The agreement aims to strengthen bilateral trade relations and open new avenues for business partnerships. The forum and the Lithuanian business mission to the Czech Republic were organized in cooperation with the Embassy of Lithuania in Prague and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania.
Welcoming the signing of the Memorandum, Lithuanian Ambassador to the Czech Republic Rolandas Kačinskas emphasized that the step was both symbolic and practical: “This agreement opens more opportunities for trade, investment, and joint projects. The European single market remains our strength and the foundation for growth, particularly at a time of increasing global uncertainty, trade fragmentation, and renewed debates about tariffs.”
The Ambassador also underlined the importance of regional cooperation, highlighting formats such as the Three Seas Initiative, which provides pathways for large-scale infrastructure and energy projects. He stressed that the reconstruction of Ukraine and its eventual integration into the European Union will also create new business opportunities. “But first, we must defend Ukraine and provide it with all necessary support,” he added.
During the forum, Lina Kutkauskaitė-Žilaitė, representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ Department for External Economic Relations and Economic Security Policy, presented Lithuania’s economic achievements and business environment, as well as an overview of bilateral economic ties with the Czech Republic. Representatives of CzechInvest outlined the country’s main investment directions, while a consultant from CzechTrade introduced services designed to help Lithuanian companies access niches in the Czech market.
B2B meetings held at the Czech Chamber of Commerce brought together Lithuanian and Czech companies from the transport and logistics, food and beverage, IT, cosmetics, textiles, and design sectors, laying the foundation for future import-export projects and partnerships. The business mission also includes a visit to Škoda, one of the Czech Republic’s largest industrial groups, in Plzeň.
On September 4, the Embassy of Lithuania hosted an informal networking reception for mission participants and their Czech counterparts. The event was attended by Czech Chamber of Commerce Vice-President Radek Jakubský, CzechInvest President Jan Michal, Foreign Investors Association Executive Director Ondřej Votruba, executives from Lithuanian laser technology companies Hilase and ELI Eric, as well as representatives of transport, logistics, and automotive industry associations, ministries, and the Czech Parliament.
