On August 30-31, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Gabrielius Landsbergis, attended the GLOBSEC security forum in the capital of the Czech Republic, which was opened by the President of the Czech Republic, P. Pavel, and the President of the European Commission, U. von der Leyen.
On the main stage of the forum, G. Landsbergis, together with Romanian Foreign Minister Luminița-Teodora Odobescu, EU Ambassador to Ukraine Katarína Mathernová, and member of the Ukrainian Parliament Mariia Mezentseva, spoke at the session "Steps Towards Just Peace."
"Ukraine's victory must be our shared goal if we want Russia's aggression to end. Voices can still be heard on both sides of the Atlantic saying that the war against Ukraine is a 'regional conflict.' We must speak out loudly and openly that this fight is not just for Ukraine, but for the entire democratic world. Without a clear vision of the world we want to live in, we— the U.S., EU, and Baltic states—will find ourselves in a new reality of wandering in darkness," G. Landsbergis said during the discussion.
On the second day of the forum, the minister participated in a closed roundtable discussion, "Shifting Transatlantic Attitudes in an Election Year."
During the visit, G. Landsbergis also had bilateral meetings with the Czech Foreign Minister Jan Lipavský and the Montenegrin Minister of European Affairs Maida Gorčević.
The "GLOBSEC" forum, initiated two decades ago, has become a traditional Central European debate platform where strategic foreign policy, economic, and security issues are discussed.
