EMBASSIES OF NORDIC AND BALTIC COUNTRIES HELD A JOINT CELEBRATION IN PRAGUE

On June 26th, 2012, the Embassies of the Baltic and Nordic countries (NB8) - Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Denmark, Finland, Norway, Sweden and Iceland - in Czech Republic followed a tradition of the close cooperation of NB8 diplomatic missions in Prague and for the fifth time in row have organised a joint celebration of the national days.

The event coincides with the time of the midsummer celebrations, popular in all eight countries, and it was held at the Kampa contemporary art museum on the Vltava river bank in the centre of Prague.

Among over a six hundred invitees were Czech officials, representatives of the Government, business and culture society, media, as well as members of the diplomatic corps that are in active and constructive partnership relations with the organisers of the event.

On behalf of NB8 countries the audience was greeted by the Ambassador of Denmark Ole Moesby who has emphasised the tradition of the close cooperation of NB8 countries and their splendid collaboration with the Czech Republic. The answering speech was delivered by the President of the Senate of the Czech Republic Milan Štěch who has greeted the hosts of the celebration for maintaining a meaningful tradition.

The guests of the evening, including the most active members of the Lithuanian community in the Czech Republic, had an opportunity to taste national meals and beverages of the Baltic and Nordic countries. The Lithuanian Embassy has offered Lithuanian Tree cakes (šakotis), which have already earned popularity in the Czech Republic, also Džiugas cheese and national drinks.
