Edvilas Raudonikis commences duties as the Lithuanian Ambassador to Switzerland
On April 9, ambassador of the Republic of Lithuania in the Czech Republic Edvilas Raudonikis presented his letters of credence to the President of the Swiss Confederation Ueli Maurer in Bern.
During the conversation following the presentation of his credentials, the Ambassador and the President discussed prospects of cooperation between Lithuania and Switzerland and talked about opportunities for strengthening cultural as well as economic relations.
The Ambassador acknowledged Switzerland’s financial support for Lithuania under the cooperation program and expressed the hope that the program continues.
During his visit to Bern, Ambassador Raudonikis also met with the Secretary of State of the Swiss Foreign Affairs Department Roberto Balzaretti, Deputy State Secretary Krystyna Marty Lang, Head of the Bilateral Relations Division with the EU Pietro Piffaretti from the Directorate of European Affairs. The Ambassador also met with the President of the Swiss Lithuanian Community Jūratė Caspersen in Zurich and visited the current exhibition at the University of Fribourg "Spiritual Children of Fribourg. Lithuanian students at the University of Fribourg and the formation of the Lithuanian state” where he met with its curator Mantė Lenkaitytė Ostermann.
