COMMEMORATION OF THE 16TH OF FEBRUARY HELD AT THE EMBASSY OF LITHUANIA

17 February, 2012, Lithuanian Embassy in the Czech Republic together with the Lithuanian community and Czech friends, held a commemoration of the State Restoration Day. Ambassador of Lithuania in the Czech Republic Mr Aurimas Taurantas welcomed the attendees and on behalf of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Mr Audronius Ažubalis handed decorations for promoting bilateral Lithuanian - Czech relations and for merits in diplomatic service.

Mr Juraj Nemeš, the first Ambassador of the then Czechoslovakia in Lithuania received the award of honour of Lithuania's Ministry of Foreign Affairs -"Lithuanian Diplomacy Star" for the input in enhancing independence of Lithuania and helping in international recognition .

Mrs Biruté Chlupačiova former long lived secretary of the Embassy was handed the Bronze Cross of the medal of Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs "For Merits at the Lithuanian Diplomatic Service".

The Certificate of Acknowledgement was delivered to the Lithuanian citizen living in the Czech Republic, Violeta Volodkevičiūté for voluntary help and activities in organizing OSCE Council of Minister's Session that took place in Vilnius, December 2011.

Guests of the event had the opportunity to view the exhibition "Czechoslovakia and Lithuania: Road to Freedom" - a set of historical documents and photographs reminding of the 20 years of the Lithuanian and the then Czechoslovakian relations that were marked last year and that is open at the Embassy now.
