COLLECTION OF TOMAS VENCLOVA’S POETRY LAUNCHED IN PRAGUE
April 22, at the Philosophy faculty of Charles University in Prague, the audience was introduced to the collection of poems by one of the most renowned Lithuanian thinkers, literature analysts and professors Tomas Venclova. Translated by Alena Vlčkova, it was published in Czech by Věra Kociánova, who was there to tell how the book was born.
The coming public lecture of the author Venclova himself, to take place at the Library of Vaclav Havel in Prague on May 28th, was announced as well.
Earlier that evening the opening of a photography exhibition “Parallels of Vilnius” was held. Created by the artist Grégoire Labbé it shows his work captured through his studies in Vilnius, and reflects the photographer’s view of the city that was still undiscovered and unfamiliar at the time.
The event was sponsored by the Lithuanian Honorary Consul in Czech Republic Saulius Bazevičius, the Embassy of Lithuania in Prague and organized by the department of Eastern European and Baltic languages at the Charles University.
