AT OSCE DEBATE IN PRAGUE LITHUANIAN AMBASSADOR PRESENTED LITHUANIA‘S GOALS IN THE YEAR OF IT‘S PRESIDENCY
At Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe on the Eve of 2nd Decade of 21st Century debate in the Senate of the Czech Parliament Ambassador of Lithuania in the Czech Republic Aurimas Taurantas introduced Lithuania’s priorities in OSCE in the year of its presidency - 2011.They are as follows: to seek progress in the resolution of protracted conflicts, to strengthen common efforts in combating transnational threats, to enhance the energy security dialogue, to protect freedom of media and journalists safety, to promote tolerance through education.
In the latter regard, 23-25 March, the Czech MFA will host the high level expert conference: Anti-Semitism in Public Discourse.Head of the OSCE Secretariat in Prague Jiři Parkmann delivered a report: Historic Reflection OSCE: from Helsinki 1975 to Paris 1990.
The Czech deputy foreign minister Jiři Schneider shared his perceptions on the OSCE‘s role in today‘s transatlantic security architecture.
The discussion of the OSCE mission to safeguard European security and the organisations’ future was moderated by the Head of the Centre for Security Policy Miloš Balaban. Ex Czech deputy prime minister and minister of foreign affairs Jan Kohout, Austrian, French Ambassadors in the Czech Republic and other speakers participated.
