Ambassador Rolandas Kačinskas Presents Credentials to President of the Czech Republic Petr Pavel
On October 2, the newly appointed Ambassador of Lithuania to the Czech Republic, Rolandas Kačinskas, presented his credentials to Czech President Petr Pavel. Following the formal ceremony, which took place at Prague Castle, the official residence of the President, Ambassador Kačinskas and President Pavel held discussions on bilateral relations between Lithuania and the Czech Republic, as well as current regional security issues.
In his remarks, Ambassador Kačinskas emphasized the long-standing cooperation between Lithuania and the Czech Republic, highlighting the historical and cultural ties that bind the two nations.
“It is an honor for me to begin my work in a country with which Lithuania shares historical and cultural ties that date back to the Middle Ages. Our relations, which flourished in the early 20th century, were interrupted by Soviet occupation, but were successfully restored 35 years ago during the Velvet and Singing Revolutions. Today, these bonds are stronger than ever, rooted in a shared history and a mutual commitment to building a secure and united Europe,” said Ambassador Kačinskas.
The Ambassador also underscored the current geopolitical threats and acknowledged the critical role of the Czech Republic in supporting Ukraine and contributing to NATO’s defense efforts in Lithuania.
“In the face of complex geopolitical challenges, we deeply appreciate the Czech Republic’s principled stance in supporting Ukraine and its contribution to regional security, including the deployment of troops to Lithuania under NATO’s enhanced Forward Presence (eFP),” stated Ambassador Kačinskas.
He stressed the importance of unity and readiness across Central, Eastern, and Baltic Europe in responding to Russian aggression. The collaboration between Lithuania and the Czech Republic is a key element of the region’s security architecture and will continue to be strengthened. Concluding his remarks, Ambassador Kačinskas expressed Lithuania’s desire to further deepen relations with the Czech Republic and work together toward common goals – a strong and united Europe.
