Ambassador Laimonas Talat-Kelpša met Minister of Foreign Affairs Tomáš Petříček
Lithuanian Ambassador in the Czech Republic Laimonas Talat-Kelpša met today with Tomáš Petříček - Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic.
During the meeting diplomats talked about great bilateral relations and directions for their further development. The most promising fields of cooperation are European Union's Eastern Neighborhood, cyber security and fighting misinformation.
The Ambassador thanked the Czech Republic for its participation in the collective defense of Lithuania and other Baltic states. Tomáš Petříček confirmed that Czech troops will be in the Baltic States at least until 2022.
Measures to expand bilateral economic relations were discussed; at present, trade between Lithuania and the Czech Republic amounts to almost 1 billion euros.
The Minister congratulated the new Lithuanian Government, which had just begun work, and expressed hope for a visit to Lithuania in 2021.
