Ambassador Edvilas Raudonikis met with the Vice-chairman of the Czech Senate Přemysl Sobotka

Oct. 21, Ambassador of Lithuania to the Czech Republic Edvilas Raudonikis met with the Vice-Chairman of the Czech Senate Přemysl Sobotka. During a long and exceptionally warm meeting Lithuania’s and Czech Republic’s political and economic cooperation, and Lithuanian's path towards energy independence were discussed. Both parties agreed that in today's political environment an even closer cooperation between the EU members is required.

During the conversation Sobotka acknowledged that the Czech Republic and Lithuania, despite both being small countries, hold different positions in response to the migration crisis. A separate subject of Russian influence in Europe and Syria was discussed; both parties agreed that small countries should aim to implement unified policies and should cooperate in reassuring that NATO commitments are fulfilled.

Sobotka shared that he holds favorable contacts in Lithuanian Parliaments and invited Lithuanian representatives to come for bilateral meetings more often.
