A TREE PLANTED TO MARK PRAGUE – VILNIUS FRIENDSHIP

Lithuanian Ambassador to the Czech Republic Aurimas Taurantas took part in the event named “Have you got your own tree?” which was organized 22 April 2010 by the Mayor of Prague Pavel Bem. The Lithuanian Ambassador planted an ashtree in the Stromovka Park.The event was meant to mark the Global Earth Day.
The Mayor of Prague invited foreign diplomatic representations which have twinned towns with the city of Prague to contribute to the action and plant a tree.
From now on Vilnius city will be represented by the ashtree planted in Stromovka Park. During the 2002 flooding the park was much damaged thus, since 2006 trying to bring back its beauty, trees are being planted anew. During the period, 555 000 trees have been planted.
