A SCHOOLGIRL FROM LITHUANIA BECOMES THE INTERNATIONAL CHILDREN’S ART CONTEST WINNER
Lithuanian Ambassador in the Czech Republic Aurimas Taurantas congratulated Skaisté Tamošaityté (Trakai Art School) on the occasion of winning the International Children’s Art Contest and presented the prize “The Rose of Lidice”.
The award went to a representative of Lithuania for the first time. This year among the foreigners to win was a Lithuanian, a Japanese and a Slovak. A separate award went to the Art School of Trakai which was handed over to the teacher Renata Mečkovskiené.
This was already the thirty eighth contest. This year’s theme was - ‘Bio Diversity’. 25 000 works were presented to the contest. Among those participating at the ceremony was the Czech vice Minister of Culture, Senators, Diplomats from foreign countries.
Lidice, a small town not far away from Prague, hosts the annual art contest in memory of the 1942 tragic events when the town was burned down and major part of the citizens were decimated.
