A friendly football game in Dečin
Sunday, Sept. 21., in Dečin, the staff of the embassies of Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Estonia, Lithuania, Norway, United Kingdom, and the United States joined together to form a team for a football match against the FK Roma Junior Decin club.
The slogan of the match, “Red Card for Racism," was chosen after a number of football teams refused to play with “Roma FC Junior Decin'' team sparking a media debated about the discriminatory nature of their decision. Only time will tell what effect will the Sunday’s football match will have on the social tension present in the society at the moment; nonetheless, Sunday’s event is already a step to celebrate.
After a relentless fight the match ended in a tie (5 : 5), but the penalty shootout gave victory to the team of united embassies. The event drew large crowds of spectators and local media.
